Italian, 1616 with one plate from 1604.
Just saving this here for reference (and because two lace orders arrived yesterday, leaving me with Feelings about natural fiber versus synthetic laces, as well as the visual and tactile differences between 16th and 19th century lace styles).
It looks like reticella lace! Needle laces have always been on my list of things to work on, cause my needle work is pretty good. Have you done much of it? And yes. 16th century lace looks like WORK and IMPRESSIVE and having any amount of it screams wealth the same way it did then. 19th century is pretty but unless it's like a yard wide, it doesn't scream money.
ReplyDeleteI've dabbled with some bobbin lace, and would like to have more time to really devote it. I'm actually planning on using this source for a new writing hand, because I need a style between Gothic and Roundhand.
DeleteOh good luck with the new handwriting! Its always so frustrating changing hands until you realize it clicked last week and now its magically automatic. :P
