Evening gown of striped red tafetta. |
My dress form is broken (see above bad fit, despite attempts at padding it), so I've delayed posting this dress. It was made for attending a performance of
Rigoletto last autumn, with the fringe finally attached for Burn's Night. The fringe is hand-made, of the same striped tafetta. The style details (sleeve shape, fringe, darted bodice, center front concealed closure) are based on this 1850s evening dress from the Met:

Wow! That is a well concealed center front closure, I couldn't tell it was there at all.
ReplyDeleteThanks. The picture quality (or lack thereof) probaly helped, but I like to think it's good pattern matching. The red stripe is the center front, with the left side lapping under for the hook-and-eye fasteners.
DeleteSo, it is closed with hook and eyes, I was wondering if that is how you pulled it off.
ReplyDeletePicture quality aside, it is a good stripe matching job.
